We're now publishing every tonGues change on dev.to
Hi dev.to 👋
tonGues is a language-exchange messenger we’re building — chat, voice and video calls, media messages, on-the-fly translation and transcription. The client is Flutter, the backend is FastAPI + PostgreSQL, and there’s a small fleet of Redis, MinIO and AI services underneath.
From today we’re changing how we work in the open: every change we ship in the app gets a short write-up here.
What that means
- ✍️ New features, fixes and refactors become a small post — what changed and why.
- 🧱 The interesting bits (a WebSocket failover, a media upload quirk, a Flutter widget that misbehaved at 2× text scale) get the detail they deserve.
- 🗺️ Over time it becomes a public changelog of the project.
No promises of a fixed schedule — just a commitment to stop keeping the interesting parts to ourselves.
That’s it for the first one. The next post will be about something we actually broke and fixed. 🙂
